Dab-O-Ink

The caller's desk

Three bottle sizes, one grip

We fill the same ink into a tall 4 oz bottle, a standard 3 oz and a 1.5 oz mini. Here is how we decide which one goes in the tote.

The standard 3 oz bottle

This is the bottle most of our players picture when they hear our name. It sits in the palm without crowding the fingers, the ink lasts through a normal evening of cards many times over, and the color-matched sleeve tells you what is inside from across the table.

If you play once a week at the same hall, the 3 oz is the sensible default. It fits every dauber caddy and tote pocket we have seen, and when one finally runs dry you will have had your money out of it several seasons ago.

The tall 4 oz bottle

The 4 oz carries a third more ink in a taller body. Players who run big card packs, play several sessions a week or simply hate the feeling of a bottle getting light near the bottom tend to move up to this one and stay there.

The grip is the same. We did not widen the bottle, we made it taller, so the hand position and the dab angle you are used to carry straight over. Organizers also like the tall bottle for supply cupboards because fewer bottles cover the same season.

The 1.5 oz mini

The mini is the travel answer. It rides in a purse or a jacket pocket, it suits small-format cards, and for casual players who join a game a few times a year it means never owning more ink than they will use.

Minis also make good spares. A couple of them in the bottom of the tote will not add weight, and the night your main bottle sputters on a full card you will be glad they are there.

How we would choose

Weekly player at one hall: the 3 oz standard. Heavy sessions or multiple nights a week: the 4 oz tall bottle. Bus trips, cruises and occasional games: the mini. Organizers stocking a whole room: dozens of whichever size your regulars already hold, because nobody likes changing grip mid-season.

  • The foam tip is the same chisel cut across all three sizes
  • Sleeves and caps are color matched on every size
  • Dozens come custom packed, so mixing sizes across an order is easy
  • When in doubt, start standard and let your play pattern argue you up or down
